Speech-making is a bit like prospecting for black gold. "If you don't strike oil in 10 minutes, stop boring others"-that is what i read somewhere
Well my first ever project speech in sussex was like digging for oil rather than gold.Oil not for my last hair on my head....he he.. We all experience it to some degree. some may recognize it as butterflies in gut, profuse sweating, dry mouth, frequent trotting off to the lavatory (or port-a-potty), rapid short breaths and quick heartbeat. for me it was all in one!! pooh!!!
usually i go with this kind of thinking "I'm not ready for this. Everyone will notice and I'll look foolish. I'll feel humiliated and never have the chance to face in public again". This time i had to go with a positive feeling as i was the team leader. Now i had to think "I'm going to do my best and I know that most people out there really hope I do well. Friends and family are going to love me no matter how well I do".
My personal experience says Self-confidence is a key element. And where do you get this self confidence.Well folks..i got it from my friend( jayaraj). I suggest you to take your best friend or someone you lofe when you do your first presentations. When that person talks to you in positive way...you just can see the difference ....
The question now is why i could see the external examiner sleeping for my presentation which took place in engineering department in sussex!! I pity that guy, that he could not see me in action..he he!! I guess my last presentations and the food that he ate could have dozed him off!!! god knows wht he ate!!!! oops i guess this is the end of my slide....he he
cya and enjoy
